Privacy Policy
What we collect
When you petition the foundry we collect the first and last name of the commissioning client, an email address, a telephone number, and the ancestral names you submit within the commission form — the living siblings of your generation, your parents, and your grandparents.
Why we hold it
These details are used solely to research your lineage and to draft the emblem you have commissioned. They are never sold, never rented, and never shared with third parties.
A word on ancestral names
We recognise plainly that names such as a mother's maiden name and the names of grandparents are commonly used as security credentials elsewhere. Root & Seal stores these names encrypted and treats them with the corresponding care — access is limited to the artisans drafting your emblem, and they are never transmitted to outside parties.
Documents and photographs you upload
Reference material submitted with a commission — photographs, family documents, existing crests or records — is stored in a private, access-controlled repository. Uploaded files are not public, are not indexed, and cannot be retrieved by anyone outside the atelier. They are used only to research and draft your emblem, and are afforded the same protection as the ancestral names above. You may request their deletion at any time by writing to commissions@rootandseal.com.
Retention
Your details are held for the duration of the commission, together with the permanent entry recorded in the atelier ledger. A client may request the deletion of all non-ledger data at any time by writing to commissions@rootandseal.com.
Your rights
Under the Florida Digital Bill of Rights, and for clients in the European Union and the United Kingdom under the GDPR, you hold the right of access, correction, deletion and portability of the personal data we hold about you.
